Cousin Love

One week of our summer trip, we visited my brother, his wife and my niece Sarah in Washington, DC. We had a great time and the girls got to spend lots of time together. I do believe we probably decrease their desire to add more children by several-fold when we stay there as they experience the increased noise level! We were so busy every day trying to visit others we knew in the area, get a last few minutes in with my parents, and see a few sights.
One day, I took the three girls to the Baltimore Aquarium for the day and cold treats afterward.
Another day, Uncle Don stayed home from work and we had a fun morning on the playground followed by a picnic. It is so interesting how playing with Sarah is so much more fun for Helen than playing with Daisy since they are exactly the same age. Something about the adoration from Sarah being rather, well, lacking from her sister.

First Day of First Grade

Hmmm...very much time has elapsed in the blogosphere. Must catch up, later. But anyway...

Helen started first grade on Monday. We got the teacher we were supposed to and are very happy about that. She is very nice and flexible based on everything I've heard and my limited experience so far. She is liking the class even though her closest friends are not in it. Not all bad from my point of view, but that's another story. She was extremely (unnaturally?) excited to see a real science textbook in her desk. She is looking forward to art, PE and music.

Oh- and for this year's stab to mama's heart- She has decided to be dropped off in the carline in the morning and walk in by herself- sniff, sniff.
Dear Helen, Please stop growing up! Love, Mama
